I’ve written a lot about winter this year. If I had posted these soon after taking them, I would have had a lot to say. I have a fascination with winter light and all that. But it’s getting redundant. I’m not afraid to schedule shoots in the darkest, coldest, and snowiest of weather. I love it. To a point.
Back in September, Taylor had loaned me her vintage Romanian vest. I stared at its ridiculous colors for months before deciding that only she would be right to photograph in it. This shoot was both planned and spontaneous. The wardrobe a pile of random layers we picked from a bag I had brought and whatever was on the floor of Taylor’s bedroom, the location a quick find in the dying light of the late afternoon.
It’s the closest I’ve come yet to showing how I feel about winter. Cold. Quiet. Lonely. But with a hidden energy underneath its white blanket.
