Between January 31st and February 27th, I didn’t pick up a camera. Neither did TJ. It wasn’t on purpose, exactly, but weather and the winter blahs conspired to leave us with an empty calendar. It was terrifying. And a really good thing.

For the last two years it’s been nothing but one photoshoot after another. While that’s been great for portfolio building, it hasn’t all been worth it. There have been so many just okay shoots, so much exhaustion, that I resolved to slow down a bit this year to focus. In our month “off,” I caught up on editing. I caught up on website updates. I learned how to make crepe paper flowers (which you’ll hopefully see soon). I napped. And I planned, something that I never really had time for before.

Still, at the end of it all I was getting pretty antsy about not creating anything new, even though I had little interest in leaving the apartment. And I was getting scared of my camera. I knew it was time to start up again, so I bought a new piece of velvet upholstery fabric/backdrop to inspire us.

This session with Blake was thrown together last minute and was our first shoot back. We kept it simple. We had fun.

I mean, after all, that’s the point right?
