What do you do when the location you were banking on is shrouded in wasp nests, brambles and poision ivy? You plow through it of course. But, then what do you do if, between when you visited last January and now, all the windows were boarded up and there’s no point of entry? You send your expert in urban exploration- who you are of course travelling with- off to find a hole to climb through. But, then what do you do if he finds a security guard instead? You make a new friend who lets you wander around until you find another awesome place that’s not technically inside and so you’re not breaking any rules. But, then what do you do if he says that the crumbly covered entryway you’re testing your flash settings out in technically does count as inside? You ignore him because your model is wearing a see through nightgown and underwear and you’ve at least got to get something. But, then what do you do when the police show up? You quickly make up an artist statement to explain what the hell you’re doing, gain a new fan, and give up, knowing you did get ONE photo and that’s an achievement all things considered. Besides, there’s always swamps and woods and… then it starts to rain. What do you do???
You shoot in a nearby cornfield. Your model’s eye makeup was supposed to be messy anyway. And, you just might end up with some amazing photos. Sometimes things work out.
In case you were curious, our model- the AMAZING Hana Kahn, a fantastic artist in her own right (check out her music here)- is still speaking to us. Frankly, we’re surprised about that, but we weren’t all that surprised about the photos. After all, there’s no rest for the wicked.
