It’s the official last day of Summer here in the Northern Hemisphere. For some reason, that has never made me as depressed as the last day of August. To me, Summer ended weeks ago, we’ve just been in seasonal limbo- too hot to wear flannel and corduroys, but all wrong for flipflops.
But back when flip flops felt just right, Brianna and I spent a lazy July afternoon in the garden, twisting ferns into crowns and picking flowers. It was quintessential summertime- green and golden, languorous and fleeting all at once. That’s all gone now.
