Some sets work better as blog posts than as portfolio posts, and I’m not sure why. Especially since our site is set up to feel bloggy all around. Maybe it’s that some sets are best if seen in full, rather than carefully edited to a concise collection. Maybe some sets are too free spirited in the first place to fit into that mold. If that’s a thing, this shoot definitely falls into that category.

Shot with minimal hair and makeup prep on a sprawling late June afternoon, it was hardly high stress. It was our third time working with Kristin, over half the wardrobe was either from my personal collection or my mother’s closet, and we stuck to within a half mile of our apartment, choosing for locations my favorite examples of Gothic Revival Victorian architecture. Everything was familiar. I like trying new things, but sometimes it’s a huge relief to have a chance to just take photos.

Especially if some of those pictures happen to be on unpredictable Impossible Project film. Sometimes that’s all the unknown you need.
